Oriental Chickpeas – The quick vegan recipe
Fernweh Koch presents: Fast food from the after-work kitchen. Today there is a simple recipe for the quick, which I prepared more or less with what was still in the kitchen. Admittedly, I love this quick leftovers kitchen, because you can simply let your creativity run wild.
I was so convinced of today’s result because of its simplicity and taste that I wanted to share the recipe for my oriental chickpea pan with potatoes with you. The recipe is basically vegan but also tastes surprisingly good with Spanish chorizo as a side dish ^^.
Oriental Chickpeas pan
Ingredients for the oriental chickpeas
- 5-6 small potatoes
- 1 small tin of chickpeas (240g)
- 1 garlic clove
- 2 tsp. cumin
- 1 teaspoon of Pul Biber*
- ½ TL Turmeric*
- 1 knife point cinnamon
- Some salt, pepper and oil
- 1 dried chili pepper (optional)
Ingredients for the Oriental Chickpea Pan
Preparation of the oriental chickpea pan
1. Peel the potatoes and cook them as usual until they are done. Let them cool down briefly and cut them into bite-sized pieces.
2. Peel and chop the garlic and drain the chickpeas. Heat the oil in a frying pan at medium temperature and fry the potatoes and chickpeas lightly, then add the chopped garlic.
Fry chickpeas, garlic and potatoes
3. Now season the oriental spices and let everything fry together in the pan at medium temperature for about 5 minutes.
4. Serve the chickpeas pan hot, if you like, you can also add a fresh yogurt-mint sauce. Bon appetit ^^

Oriental chickpea pan – My conclusion
Actually, this chickpea recipe is nothing special at all. But good things don’t always have to be complicated and even the small, quick things can be really delicious. I think that chickpeas and Co. will be on our table more often in the future, because they can be used in many different ways.
