Greek Tzatziki Recipe – Homemade gyro sauce
One thing I know for sure: I would be a lousy vampire. Because I am totally into dishes with garlic, which vampires can’t stand. It’s actually a bit surprising that I’ve only now started to post a simple Tzatziki recipe here in addition to the homemade hummus and the Dutch Joppie sauce.
Whether it is written zaziki, tsatziki, tsatsiki or whatever. One thing is for sure, that this tzatziki comes to the table umpteen times every year in summer, when you are having a barbecue or just having flatbread and antipasti.
From time to time I have tried to prepare tzatziki with curd cheese or sometimes tzatziki without garlic. The original recipe from Greece still convinces me the most and therefore I will show you how to make Tzatziki yourself.

The preparation of a tasty Tzatziki should succeed actually everyone since the expenditure is very manageable and one must stir actually only a few ingredients together.
1. First rasp the cucumber and squeeze it neatly into kitchen paper or a clean tea towel. It is interesting how much water is actually in such a cucumber.
2. Take the fresh garlic cloves and press them with a garlic press.
Chop cucumber and garlic for the tzatziki
3. Now mix the yogurt with the grated cucumber, garlic and olive oil and season with salt, pepper and lemon juice.
4. Now let the Tzatziki steep in the refrigerator for about 1-2 hours. I think that the garlic will unfold a little bit and the Tzatziki will taste a little bit better. Bon appetite.

Homemade Tzatziki – My conclusion
Why should you buy finished tzatziki in the supermarket when you can make this Greek sauce so easily and in less than 10 minutes by yourself? For my part, I definitely love to make new dips and creams all the time and I make this gyro sauce quite often, especially in summer. It tastes great with a barbecue or with antipasti and bread.
